Modernism Project

  1. Our poems use some of the same Modernism characteristics in the writing style. Both of our poems don't give great detail to any settings or very many details, but in my poem the author does describe the pears in detail. That is all he talks about actually.

  2. Both of our poems do not have a rhyme scheme, which I think is found in a lot in modernism writing. Intentionally breaking tradition is a characteristic of modernism and I think that authors writing in free verse is their way of breaking the traditional poem format.

  3. Our poems are similar in the description of the scenery and the use of the setting to create the place but not overusing adjectives. The poems also share the no set rhyme scheme but instead focus on the story. Instead of having a sad theme the theme of the magi is more uplifting and the location are completely different your story talks about a beach and mine are traveling through the desert but they are both on a journey.

  4. The thing that stuck with me is that when you said Modernism is something that does not look at something that is already there, but something we create with our eyes. My poem was similar because it showed the opinion of this little girl who was called a name and how she felt about it for the rest of her life.

  5. Your method of comparing and contrasting the literary work to the characteristics of previous periods was very insightful. You were able to find more detailed ways that this poem exemplifies modernism writing, more than the typical "loss and despair." Our stories were very different aspects of modernist writing, but they were written under the same "literary umbrella."

  6. Our poems are different because yours goes into great detail about everything, while mine simple tells a short story about a little girl who goes through depression. You mentioned that the main character is observing, which could be a similarity to mine because the people are watching the little girl and noticing her sadness. I liked this view of Modernism and you did a really good job of describing both the writing style and your poem specifically. :)

  7. You mentioned how your story 'fragmented' the pieces together like a puzzle. That's similar to the story I read because it too compared similarities in a somewhat random, juxtaposed style. Unlike mine, your story has a structure and sadness to it.

I like how you described the poem as 'eerie.' There is something about that verb that I find so appealing because enjoy literature with mystery.

  8. Your work was much more detailed about everything, as where mine was short and sweet and got to the point. Yours is told through the main character as where mine is too. It stuck out to me that they created something to look at in the brain.

  9. The two modernism works that we read were similar because they both had the "fragmentation" thing going on. In my story, it kind of skipped around a bit making it kind of confusing, which is common in a lot of modernism literature because their goal was for their writing to be different.

  10. Our poems included the same modernism quality of despair in the main characters of the poem. The thing that stuck with me the most about your poem was its lack of description and scenery details!

  11. Your poem was very detailed where mine was something like a story that was simple and didn't detail a lot on the different people in the poem. You said that your poem was "fragmented" and that is something that was different than mine. Mine seemed like it was telling a story right from the beginning to the end. I think that this is very interesting that your author used this technique because it adds a feel to it that is interesting and different.

  12. In this manner my buddy Wesley Virgin's tale starts in this shocking and controversial VIDEO.

You see, Wesley was in the army-and soon after leaving-he revealed hidden, "SELF MIND CONTROL" secrets that the CIA and others used to get whatever they want.

These are the same secrets lots of famous people (especially those who "come out of nothing") and top business people used to become rich and famous.

You probably know how you use less than 10% of your brain.

That's really because the majority of your brainpower is UNCONSCIOUS.

Maybe this expression has even occurred INSIDE your very own head... as it did in my good friend Wesley Virgin's head 7 years ago, while riding an unregistered, trash bucket of a vehicle without a license and with $3 in his bank account.

"I'm very fed up with going through life payroll to payroll! Why can't I turn myself successful?"

You've been a part of those those types of questions, ain't it right?

Your success story is waiting to be written. All you need is to believe in YOURSELF.
